01 / Overview
The foundation of every great floor
Floor levelling is critical to the performance and longevity of your finished floor. Whether you’re installing tiles, vinyl, timber or carpet, an uneven substrate leads to cracked tiles, hollow spots, telegraphing imperfections and premature wear.
Apex Floor Preparation uses premium self-levelling compounds and traditional screeds to achieve the tolerances your floor covering requires. Every pour is laser-checked and documented — giving you confidence that the substrate meets specification before the next trade arrives.
Typical applications
- Retail fit-outs
- Commercial office spaces
- Hospitality venues
- Healthcare facilities
- Educational buildings
- Warehousing & logistics

Our levelling services
02.1
Self-levelling compounds
Pumpable, self-smoothing compounds for fast coverage of large areas. Achieves SR1–SR3 tolerances depending on product selection and application method. Ideal for tight programme schedules.
| Tolerance | SR1–SR3 |
02.2
Feather-edge repairs
Precision patching for localised high spots, divots and transitions, blended seamlessly into surrounding areas. Essential for vinyl and thin-set tile installations, where substrate imperfections telegraph through.

02.3
Traditional screeds
Sand and cement screeds for significant build-ups and falls to drainage, reinforced where required. Used when self-levelling compounds aren’t suitable for the depth or gradient required.

03 / Flatness
Flat isn’t a feeling. It’s a number.
We measure flatness the way specifications do: the gap under a 2 m straightedge. Every pour is laser-checked and documented, so you get the tolerance in writing.
Gap under a 2 m straightedge
| Class | Maximum gap |
|---|---|
| SR3 | 10 mm |
| SR2 | 5 mm |
| SR1 | 3 mm |
Quality assurance
Every levelling project includes comprehensive QA documentation:
| Stage | What we record |
|---|---|
| Pre-pour assessment | Substrate condition, moisture readings and existing level survey |
| Product documentation | Batch numbers, mixing ratios and application conditions |
| Post-pour verification | Laser level checks confirming the achieved tolerance |
